Privacy Policy

At Digital Dialogue, we’re serious about your privacy. As a bunch of coders, digital designers, digital media and social media addicts who spend our working lives online, we treat your privacy the way we expect others to treat our own: with transparency and respect.

We’ve written this privacy policy to spell out how we put these principles into action, and the steps we take to ensure that we comply with Australia’s privacy laws.

Who we are

Digital Dialogue builds and runs websites, online advertising campaigns, social media channels, competitions and mobile apps for our clients. We also provide a number of digital services to our clients for measuring the effectiveness of their marketing efforts.

The personal information we collect, and why we collect it

Although most of the websites, apps and products we create can be used anonymously or with an alias, there are times when we will ask for personal information from you, such as your name, date of birth, contact details (phone number, email address, postal address), your gender and interests, your username and password. We may also collect other information about how and where you use our ads, products and services such as which web browser you use, whether you are using an iPhone or Windows PC, your IP address or the UDID and location of your smartphone (when using our location-enhanced apps), and which pages of our websites you access.

Lastly, we may collect information about you from our clients. For example, if you have registered with a mobile app we have created for one of our clients, we might collect information about which of our client’s products you own so that we can deliver support content related to products you actually own, or new products you may be interested in.

We collect this information from and about you for a variety of reasons and uses, including:

  • allowing our staff to manage competitions and contact the winners;
  • responding to online enquiries or feedback submitted to our websites or social media accounts;
  • providing secure access to our digital products and services;
  • optimising and personalising use of our websites, apps and products based on your past usage, location or interests;
  • managing subscriptions to online newsletters or other communication channels;
  • processing payments for purchases made through one of our websites or apps;
  • managing and optimising digital advertising campaigns.

Where does your personal information live?

The personal information we collect might be stored in a few places: 1) in our offices and computers; 2) in data centres we lease space or capacity in; and 3) on the computer systems of business partners we use to deliver our services and applications. For example, if you have signed up to one of our hugely entertaining (well, we like to think so!) email newsletters, your details may be stored with the online service we use to send out large mailouts.

While we’re talking about newsletters, a quick word about direct marketing

We hate SPAM even more than you. We’ll only send you a newsletter or promotion via SMS, email or post if you have specifically opted in to receive it. All of these communications include instructions on how to unsubscribe from future communications at not cost. Too easy.

Who do we share your information with?

We may share personal information amongst companies in the Digital Dialogue family (including successors in title to our business), and with the business partners and contractors who help us run our competitions, apps and websites. This may involve transferring your data from Australia to other countries, such as the United States, Ireland (to be sure), New Zealand or Singapore, where some of our employees, data centres and service providers are located. Although we only use data centres with world class security (mostly Amazon Web Services, if you’re a curious geek like us) you should know that Australia’s privacy laws and protections don’t apply in these countries, and we may need to disclose your information overseas if local laws require it. By giving us your personal information or interacting with us, you agree to our use of your data on a global basis.

We may also share personal information with business partners and clients where it’s required to provide you with functionality or services that you’ve requested. For example, if you win a competition we’re running on behalf of a client, we may provide your details to that client so that they can deliver the prize to you.

If we do share personal information with our business partners, we take reasonable steps to ensure that they are bound by the same confidentiality and privacy obligations we have to respect and protect your personal information.


Our respect for your personal information means that we have put security measures in place to protect your personal information from unauthorised access.
