BWS 2011 Rockstar Promotion Goes Live!

BWS Viral Promotion / competitionDigital Dialogue recently launched the latest promotion for BenWilsonSurf. This is the biggest promotion ever run in the kitesurfing industry and give contestants the opportunity to become the 2011 BWS Rockstar!

This promotion is a viral competition integrating the use of video, a viral microsite with address book importer, eDM activity and social media integration.

BenWilsonSurf recently launched their own brand of kites, boards and accessories. In order to get attention in the marketplace, BWS have worked with Digital Dialogue to increase their awareness globally and the BWS Rockstar promotion is an ideal way of doing this.

Each contestant has the opportunity to win an amazing amount of kitesurfing gear which includes kites, boards, clothing from Reef, sunglasses from Electric, fins from FCS, bags and a harness from Dakine, wetsuits from NPX and more. This is an opportunity for any kitesurfer to feel like a seasoned, sponsored pro rider!

The Viral Engine

When a contestant enters the competition themselves, they're given the opportunity to also refer their friends. Each friend referred who also enters, gives the orginal contestant another opportunity to win. Additionally, if the orginal contestant wins the competition, they can select one of their friends who also entered to win exactly the same prize - thereby doubling the overall prize!

The Mechanic

The BWS Rockstar promotion uses a very simple mechanic which has shown to substantially increase the number of entries, and therefore reduce the number of bounces. When people land on the competition website, the video launches automatically. The video is fun, fast paced and exciting so that it catches attention. Once the video has completed, instead of saying "click here to enter", the video is automatically replaced by the entry form, making it very easy and quick for people to enter. This also decreases the chances of losing people due to extra steps or barriers to entry.

Further, once an entry is completed and people referred, the system automatically sends out emails to all parties concerned. The entrant receives an email offering them the chance to refer more friends for more chances to win, and the referees receive an email (from the friend who referred them) inviting them to confirm their entry.

How to Increase Competition Entries

Digital Dialogue have provided contestants 2 ways of referreing their friends. They can either simply type friends names and email addresses into the fields provided, or they can access their address book directly and import their contacts. 

Our experience has shown that by using the address book importer on viral campaigns, the average number of referrals per entrant increases from 1.5 to a huge 7.2!!

Analytics & Insights

Viral Competition StatsDigital Dialogue provide an online dashboard for BWS to track the competition live. Key statistics are provided including number of entrants, numbers of referrals and confirmed referrals.
