How Does It Work?
If you can send an email, you can use Fax2Mail. It is very simple to use and administer, whether you just have one account for your home office, or if you are an IT manager with 1000 Fax2Mail users. Here's a diagram of how it works:
Sending A Fax Using Your Email Account
Once setup with an account, to send a fax, you simply click on "new message" in your email software (it doesn't matter what email software you are using - you can even use a web based email address such as hotmail or yahoo). In the address bar, enter the fax number you are sending to including the area code, followed by "@fax2mail.com".
You can put a range of instructions in the subject line of the email to do any of the following:
- broadcast the fax to a list of people;
- attach a cover sheet to your fax;
- schedule the fax for future delivery;
- change the reporting options; and
- add a customer reference and/or billing code.
Receiving A Fax By Email
Anyone sending you a fax will do it as they always have. They will simply dial your fax number and send the document, completely unaware that you're going to receive the fax by email.
When the fax arrives, it come in as an easily identifiable email, with the header information in the body of the email (senders details, time of receipt, # of pages etc.) and the actual fax document attached to the email as either a PDF or TIFF file.
You can then open the file, print it or forward it on by email. Either way, you have an audit trail of that document!
